Carolyn is an experienced litigator and counselor for the firm. Her practice has always focused on civil litigation, beginning as a paralegal and law clerk for a Philadelphia firm in 1991. She has been with Godin & Baity since 2001, and became a principal of the firm in January 2006. Since joining Godin & Baity, Carolyn has represented a variety of entities and individuals in commercial litigation, including construction entities and software companies. Her current practice emphasizes defense of construction entities in construction defect litigation in Colorado, John Does in copyright infringement matters, and commercial entities in personal injury matters. She also reviews and drafts legal documents related to surface and mineral rights for oil and gas development. Carolyn was recently admitted to practice law in the State of North Dakota, and a member of the Williston Area Builders Association. Carolyn has represented developers, builders, and other construction professionals in litigation involving community-wide and single family residential construction defect allegations, as well as commercial construction claims. She has addressed issues involving building envelope, civil, geotechnical and structural engineering claims. Carolyn has extensive experience representing commercial entities in personal injury matters, involving negligence, premises liability, and wrongful death claims. Her practice in all areas emphasizes the importance of the details in best defending, reducing or eliminating claims against her clients. Carolyn was involved on the J.D. Edwards & Company and PeopleSoft trial team. She also has an additional ten years of litigation experience in plaintiff environmental matters and insurance defense.
